Northbridge 1 & 2 Projects
Northbridge, Massachusetts
One of the largest solar energy projects operating in Massachusetts today, the Northbridge 14.5MW facility is comprised of two separate, ground-mounted 7+ MW DC community shared solar facilities. As required by the new SMART solar program, the facilities are paired with a total of 8 MW of lithium-ion battery storage equipment that is designed to offset and manage the grid’s peak energy demand. Located on a total of 60 acres of land in the hilly, industrial “Badlands” of Northbridge, MA, the projects installed a total of 39,690 solar panels. Over the next 30+ years, Northbridge 1 & 2 will generate approximately 18 million kWh of electricity each year, equivalent to the average annual electricity consumption of 1,700+ American homes. The systems are interconnected by National Grid, and the energy off-takers include the City of Everett, Tufts University, and Community Shared Retail Customers. Operational Dates: August 2021 and January 2022.
